
Location
Felsted is a picturesque village in the Uttlesford district near Braintree and Great Dunmow. First recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086, it retains all the charm of a rural community within the beautiful northwest Essex countryside.
The area provides access to miles of footpaths and bridleways with the 'Flitch Way' bordering the village, offering a vital greenway and wildlife corridor between Braintree and Bishop's Stortford.
Felsted and the market town of Great Dunmow provide the local shopping facilities, and there is a more extensive range of recreational, leisure and educational facilities at nearby Chelmsford.
The area is well served by both state and private schools, with a primary and pre-school at Felsted, together with the renowned Felsted School for boys and girls from age 4-18 is just over a mile away, secondary schools at Dunmow and Chelmsford and other primary schools in Stebbing, Rayne and Ford End.
Felsted has two pubs, The Chequers and The Swan, a village store, an antique shop, two restaurants and a bed and breakfast guest house.
For the commuter, there are train stations at Braintree, Chelmsford and Stansted Airport to London Liverpool Street and access to the A120 linking with the M11 (junction 8) at Bishop's Stortford.
Felsted is linked to Little Dunmow by the Flitch Way - a former railway line from Braintree to Bishops Stortford.
